Gomez and Sullivan conducted a hydrologic and hydraulic evaluation of the morning glory spillway at Harriman Station, a 41-MW facility located on the Deerfield River in Readsboro and Whitingham, VT. A CFD model of morning glory spillway was developed to evaluate hydraulic capacity under various headwater conditions, including siphon potential under high head conditions. The model also included the evaluation of cavitation potential within the spillway tunnel. The project included reconnaissance level review of the Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) for the development, including a frequency analysis and comparison of the Probable Maximum Precipitation (PMP) to historic rainfall data and hydraulic analysis of spillway capacity.
